Coventry City Ladies named goalkeeper Sue Wood as their Player Of The Season at the Awards Evening at the Ricoh Arena on Friday night.

Wood has played her part superbly in what has been a good season for Paul Cudby's side who finished sixth in their first ever season in the WPL National Division, the second tier of Women's Football as well as winning the Birmingham County FA Womens Cup and making the WPL League Cup Semi-Finals.

City Ladies boss Paul Cudby told Steve Carpenter: "We can be incredibly proud of our achievements.  "Whilst it was a disappointing way to finish, we've achieved so much this season.

"We've won the County Cup for the first time in our history, we've achieved a mid-table finish in our first season ever in the National Premier League, and we've had some wonderful performances along the way too.

"There's lots of positives, we can certainly hold our heads very high indeed and we give ourselves an excellent base to build on for next season.

"I'd like to thank everyone involved with the club for all their time and energies they've poured in through the season, hopefully it'll be more of the same for the next campaign!"
