City Ladies Draw With Wolves

Coventry City Ladies were held to a draw against Wolves Ladies this afternoon at Sphinx Drive.

Paul Cudby's side had the better of the play early on with Jade Formaston, firing over from twenty yards following a corner and Nicole Dale (pictured below) also fashioning a shot on goal.

In the 15th minute, the side promoted to the WPL Northern Division for this season, hit Sue Wood's left hand post and then won a free kick and a corner.

City, with Natalie Wilcox defending well, put together a great move in the 20th minute which saw Helen Dermody forcing Hall to make a smart stop.

The Sky Blues were to take the lead in the 31st minute when a Dermody through ball was seized upon by Courtney Sweetman-Kirk who struck a shot from inside the area which beat Hall and put City a goal up.

However, that was as good as it got for City as former City Lady Philloposwky came into the game.

She had a 47th minute shot pushed away by Wood for a corner and then struck the post when the ball came back to her.

Philloposwky headed wide in the 63rd minute before being involved in the move which saw Wolves draw level twelve minutes later, when the ball came out to their number number eight who lobbed City's replacement custodian from an acute angle.

City take on WSL side Bristol Academy next Sunday at Sphinx Drive. Kick off is at 2pm.

City Ladies Reserves beat Wolves 6-1 at Sphinx Drive this morning.
