COVENTRY CITY LADIES 9-1 BUSTLEHOLME LADIES BY KEV MONKS
Coventry City Ladies cruised in to the Birmingham County FA Women's Cup Semi-Final with a 9-1 win over Bustleholme at Coventry Sphinx.

The Sky Blues who had beaten Leamington 11-0 and Rugby Town 9-0 in the previous rounds, were ahead inside two minutes through Anna McLeod's close range finish.

In the 17th minute, Amanda Whalley raced down the right flank before firing in off the far post for Coventry's second and added a third in the 35th minute netting from close range.

With the game deep in stoppage at the end of the first half,
Julia Marshall converted on the goal line from a corner before Whalley completed her hat-trick with a powerful drive.

Mark Phillips side continued to press with Michelle Hickmott driving home in the 50th minute before a delightful chip from Laura Healy saw Coventry go seven goals clear in the 54th minute.

Mel Byrne raced through to beat Bustleholme's offside trap and the visiting keeper with a cool 61st minute finish for the eighth.

With two minutes left, Bustleholme were awarded a penalty after Shamara Parks went down inside the area under a challenge from Rachel Smith. Hayley Moore scored from the resulting penalty but it was little more than a token gesture as seconds later, Laura Healy slid home to convert a Sarah Marshall penalty.

City who travel to WPL Northern Division League Leaders Sunderland next Sunday, expect to face either Aston Villa or Birmingham City in the semi-final which will be played on Sunday February 20th.
