Coventry City’s goalkeeper Joe Murphy is looking forward to the next game, the short trip Walsall on Saturday following his side’s 3-1 demolition f the league leaders Leighton Orient on Tuesday.

Coventry City are now sitting comfortably in mid table on 14 points after starting the season with a 10 point penalty, but adding the deducted 10 points to give an idea of current form, City would now be in 4th place in League One.

Saturday’s hosts, Walsall are on their own run of good form and sit in sixth place on 22 points and are unbeaten in three games while City are unbeaten in four.

Murphy is not being complacent and has urged his side to keep working hard to continue their climb up the table.

Speaking to the Coventry telegraph, Murphy said, “We need to work on getting as far up as possible. We know we have got a good squad here. Everyone is talking about the front two and hopefully people will still be talking about them at the end of the season when they’ve got 25 each and we’ve done really well.”

Last season saw two contrasting games between the two sides a 5-1 win for City at The Ricoh, followed by a 4-0 loss at The Bescott. Murphy is hoping for a different outcome this season in front of an expected travelling crowd in excess of 2,000.

Murphy said, “We took a good crowd there last year but we’ll be looking for a better performance and result this time against a side who are doing well and will be there or thereabouts in the top six come the end of the season, but we’ll go there with confidence and hopefully put on another good performance in front of a good crowd again.”
