Coventry City have dropped to 23rd in the Championship table following a 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest, which left those 2700 City supporters who made the trip to Nottingham, feeling badly let down by the team.

City only avoided going bottom thanks to Leeds United, whom City had beaten on Tuesday, sparking a mass clamouring for tickets for the game at the City Ground, beating Doncaster Rovers 3-2 with a late goal from Luciano Becchio.

The win for Nottingham Forest lifted them out of the bottom three after Portsmouth who were docked ten points yesterday for going into administration, were beaten 2-0 at Barnsley.

Forest now have 28 points three less that Bristol City who lost 3-0 at Peterborough.

Ipswich made it four wins on the trot with a 3-0 win over Cardiff City whilst Crystal Palace moved up a few places following a 4-0 win over Watford.

Southampton went top of the league with a 4-0 win over Derby County.

In the FA Cup, Championship Leicester City won 2-1 at Premier League Norwich and Birmingham City drew 1-1 at Chelsea.

Two Championship sides were knocked out at the Fifth Round stage, Millwall lost 2-0 at home to Bolton and Blackpool lost by the same score at Everton.

In the all Premier League tie Sunderland beat Arsenal 2-0
