Coventry City have dropped to the fifth in the Championship table after the weekend matches were completed.
The Sky Blues were beaten 3-2 at home by Leeds United in front of the biggest crowd for a home league game at the Ricoh Arena and dropped to fifth after Derby County took over their fourth place thanks to a 2-0 home win over Portsmouth.
The final game of the weekend was the South Wales derby between Cardiff City and Swansea City. Jay Bothroyd missed the match but former Craig Bellamy played and was booked in a game which saw Emnes give Swansea a 1-0 win with under sixteen minutes of the match remaining.
Leaders QPR beat Reading 3-1 whilst Ipswich Town, joined Coventry, Derby and Norwich on 24 points from 15 games and moved up into the top six with a 2-1 win at Sheffield United.
Crystal Palace, whom City travel to next Saturday after they have played at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night, remain rooted to the bottom of the Championship table with a 2-1 defeat at second bottom Middlesbrough. Bristol City remain third bottom after snatching a 1-1 draw against Preston.
Other results saw Leicester win 2-0 at Barnsley, Doncaster beat Millwall 2-1 with twice City target David Healy scoring on his Donny debut, Watford drew 1-1 with Forest and Scunthorpe won the Humberside derby with a 1-0 victory at Hull City.
In the FA Cup today, Clinton Morrison scored twice for Sheffield Wednesday in a 5-2 win at Southport.
