Coventry City need to finish 14th or higher in the Championship if re-organisation plans proposed by Bolton Chairman Phil Gartside are accepted by a league meeting in November.

The plan, proposed by Mr Gartside is a two division of eighteen teams system which would include Scottish sides Celtic and Rangers as well as the current twenty Premier League clubs and fourteen from the Championship.

UEFA having already said it would not oppose a move if the relevant bodies which would include the Premier League, the Football Association, the Football League, the Scottish Premier League and the Scottish Football Association. all agreed.

For Coventry City, playing in any new league if it were to happen is a must. The publicity and income the club would generate from increased television revenues, plus increased match receipts if clubs like Celtic or Rangers were to visit the Ricoh Arena would solve many of its current problems.

Miss the boat and City would have a very uncertain future indeed.
