Coventry City could face trips to Scotland if plans by the Scottish Premier  League to start a British League Cup are approved.

The Scottish FA are to discuss the possibility of a British League Cup to replace the Scottish Football League Cup and if accepted the English Football League Cup after clubs met at Hampden Park on Monday.

The news of this comes from a one hundred page strategic plan document which also includes plans for a reduction in the number of Scottish Premier League clubs to ten.

Anglo Scottish matches are not new, stretching back to 1937 and  Coventry City has played in the Texaco Cup and Anglo Scottish Cup as well as a game against St Mirren in 1987 when both sides were winners of their FA Cups.

The last time, an Anglo Scottish Cup was muted was in 2001 and was rejected by the Football League.
