Malcolm Bromwich who designed the elephant on the ball badge has expressed his delight at it appearing on next season's kit.
The logo appeared on the kit in 1969 and was used in the programme before that.
“The covers were diabolical, so I came up with a design and sent it into the club. They were pleased with it and decided to use it, " said Mr Bromwich to the CT. .
“My payment was a season ticket in the King Richard Street corner but I hadn’t done it for payment – I did it because I loved the club and I was so proud that they used the design.”
