Coventry City have moved a step closer to having their own disabled football teams by employing Paul Reynolds as a Disability Football Officer.

The goalkeeping coach has worked with England's Learning Disability and Cerebral Palsy squads and is confidant that he can set up teams at the club who will play in the Football League backed Ability Counts League.

Mr Reynolds said to the Football League website: "I aim to put together teams that can represent Coventry City in the Ability Counts League.

"At the same time, we are all looking to improve the profile of disabled football in the city. There is a lot of work to be done.

"Children and adults with disabilities want to play football for the same reason as anyone who plays the game. The awareness of disabled football needs to be increased in Coventry."

City would go into the West Midlands League which is based at Aston Villa's Academy.
