Coventry City will face either Cheltenham Town, Portsmouth, Newport County or Swindon Town, Bristol City, Exeter City, Northampton Town, or Plymouth Argyle in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Second Round.
In City's South Western Group on Tuesday night, Cheltenham beat Oxford United 2-0 and Portsmouth won 3-1 at Yeovil Town.
Newport County face Swindon Town on Tuesday September 23rd after the match had to be postponed due to a NATO meeting in the South Wales city.
The second round draw is on Saturday morning.
Elsewhere in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, former Coventry City player Gary McSheffrey scored for Scunthorpe United in a 2-0 win over Chesterfield and former City loanee Chris Dagnall scored twice for Leyton Orient in a 3-2 win at Peterborough United.
The only shock was Morecambe's 3-1 win at League One side Fleetwood Town.
