Charles-Cook: City U21's Players Are Doing Fine

Coventry City goalkeper Reice Charles-Cook has said that the players who normally play for City U21's but have been in the first squad in pre-season have been doing fine.

The keeper told the Coventry Telegraph: “We know the gaffer is going to bring in players but it’s nice to see the young lads take their opportunity and keep themselves in the gaffer’s mind.

“It’s something they can only dream of happening for them and they’ve done so well. And if we have to start the season with some of them no-one is going to let the team down. I’m confident the young lads will stand up and be counted.

“The twins, Dion and Devon Kelly-Evans and players like Cian Harries are looking like senior players now and fair play to them. And if Darragh Leahy has to play because Sam Ricketts has got a knock he will be fine and I’ll have every confidence of having him in front of me.

"Darrah’s been outstanding, had some tough tests and can hold his head high. He’s come back strong in the summer and wants to defend, wants to learn and has a bright future ahead of him if he keeps going the same way.

“But you could got through the whole side that played at Norwich full of lads who are 18/19 and we stood up for most of the game.”
