Charity Match At The Ricoh Arena Tomorrow

Last updated : 05 June 2014 By JM
On Saturday a group of young and old(er) football fans – mostly Sky Blue supporters (although the odd Villa or Baggies fan may have slipped through the net) will stage a charity football match at the Ricoh Arena to raise funds for the Mary Ann Evans Hospice. There will be two matches -  the first ,kicking off at 2.10, is a 40 minute junior match between Brinklow Juniors and Finham Park Rangers and then the big boys get to play at 3.00. Featuring rolling substitutes there will be a total of 40 players involved each who have paid for the privilege of playing on the pitch previously graced by their Sky Blue heroes.

The match is being sponsored by G Casino who have kindly provided post match refreshments. There will be a stand open for spectators (all welcome) - £2.00 for adults and free for concessions, pay on the gate. Car Parking is free. All profits will be going to the charity.

The Mary Ann Evans hospice is a locally based charity that provides a home from home environment for people diagnosed with cancer and other life limiting diseases. It also has a care at home service, lymphoedema service and offers bereavement help. The work done by this amazing organisation is truly humbling and puts the current dispute surrounding Coventry City into perspective.

Organiser David Bason said “If you fancy an afternoon watching football at the Ricoh please come along and support this great cause. The standard of play might not be great but it will be fun and will be aiding some truly remarkable people.”
