Centre Half Rumoured

Coventry City have spoken to a Premiership centre half about a move to the Ricoh Arena. Not wishing to give anything away,Tim Flowers said to the CT: "We have got a No.1 target and we have met with his agent and it all sounded positive. "He is a player of great calibre and has got one or two Premier League clubs looking at him but I have spoken to him myself and he is a good honest lad and says he will ring me as soon as he knows what's happening.

"I can't say too much at this stage but from the first day I came through the door at Coventry I threw his name into the equation because he is a very, very good player. "If he comes, and it is a big 'if', he will bring leadership, organisation and a rugged manliness, and I believe he would be a major coup and signal of our intent.

"When you get someone like that over the line people suddenly sit up and take notice and see that you mean business, and sense that something might kick off, so if we can get him, fantastic. Flowers added: "They want money for him but it is not a ridiculous, blow your socks off figure."

Blackburn's Andy Todd could be the player in question. This morning's Daily Mirror linked him with a £700,000 move to City.

Talking about other possible signings,Flowers said: I have spoken to three other players, different to the ones I mentioned last week, two of whom we saw at Ryton and one whom is on holiday at the moment.

"Two were Premiership players last year, one of whom is a younger one with an eye for the future and one a more experienced over 25, one being an attacking player and one a more defensive player.

"But we are looking for players for now as well as young lads for way down the line because we want to build something here not just for next season, but for years to come."
