Though naturally disappointed that a failure in travel logistics prevented Association Member and inspirational former Sky Blue John Hartson taking part personally in the recent CCFPA Golf Day 2012 we were pleased to host the other members of his team representing the  ‘John Hartson Foundation’.

The JH team (pictured above) consisting of Andrew Thomas, Les and Rob Laing and their guest FP Peter Hormantshuk  nevertheless performed creditably and finished in the top ten. The JH Foundation had previously benefited from several appearances by John in Coventry during last season, including a book signing at the Ricoh as a guest of CCFPA and CCFC promoting his latest book  ‘Please Don’t Go -Big John’s Journey Back to Life’  (Mainstream 2010).

When John came to see us last February he donated a number of signed copies of his book to assist CCFPA funds and therefore we took the opportunity of Golf Day to reciprocate.  The JH Foundation (www.johnhartsonfoundation.com) aims to promote awareness of male testicular cancer and support for its victims and was set up after John himself overcame the malady and a number of other life threatening complications.

CCFPA committee member Bob Eales and Associate Member Suki Singh were delighted to present Les Laing  (pictured at top) – who helps run the JH Foundation for John - with an exclusive gift from the Association (provided by Suki).  The gift, which will be used as an auction item for the Foundation’s own fundraising events in the future, consisted of a bottle of Champagne commemorating England’s 1966 world cup victoryand signed on the label by the scorers!

The Association hopes the collaboration between the two bodies will continue and we trust that that it will not be too long before we see John as our guest at a CCFPA event next season!
