Coventry City supporters will face trips to Norwich,Southampton and Crystal Palace next season after a dramatic final day of the season in the Premiership.

Calum Davenport played for Southampton in a 2-1 home defeat by Manchester United, Crystal Palace 2-2 draw at Charlton was not enough to keep Ian Dowie's side whilst Norwich City were thrashed 6-0 at Fulham.

Assisted by Portsmouth knowing that their defeat would relegate local rivals Southampton, West Brom became the first side in the Premiership to be bottom at Christmas and not be relegated as the Baggies recorded a 2-0 victory at the Hawthorns.

Elsewhere, newly confirmed full time Manchester City manager Stuart Pearce saw his side miss out on a European place when Robbie Fowler had a late penalty saved in the 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough who took the Citizen's place in the UEFA Cup. A goal by Lee Carsley was not enough to stop Everton from sliding to a 3-2 defeat at Bolton. Liverpool joined Middlesbrough and Bolton in the UEFA Cup with a 2-1 home win over Aston Villa.

In the Championship Play-Off Semi-Final first leg, Preston beat Derby County 2-0 thanks to goals from David Nugent and Richard Cresswell. Mo Konjic came closest to scoring for The Rams.
In Scotland, Stephen Pressley who was appointed player/caretaker manager at Hearts was sent off for two bookable offences in a 2-1 home defeat by Celtic.
