Coventry City defender Nathan Cameron has praised his former manager Aidy Boothroyd for giving him the chance of first team football.

This time last year, Cameron was a regular in the first team after making his debut against Portsmouth and went on to win the Covsupport News Service Young Player Of The Year Award. However, this season, he has yet to make a first team appearance despite playing in pre-season.

"He was a great manager and that’s a fantastic compliment," Cameron said about Aidy Boothroyd to the Coventry Observer's Steve Carpenter.

"I was very disappointed to see him leave towards the end of last season.

"I think it was tough on him because the results were unlike any I think I have seen at any other club. It was something like one win in 18 matches.

"But he gave me great confidence especially when he threw me in at the deep end last season and gave me my chance, but now I want to push on and do as well as I can for the club."
