Trinidad & Tobago went out of the World Cup with a 2-0 defeat to Paraguay. Stern John played the whole of the game in which Paraguay took a first half lead through a Brent Sancho own goal and then Nelson Cuevas scored four minutes from time.

England avoided Germany in Round Two with a 2-2 draw against Sweden. England lost Michael Owen to a second minute knee injury but took the lead through a stunning goal from Joe Cole in the 34th minute.

Villa's Marcus Allback equalised for the Swedes in the 51st minute before a header from Steven Gerrard put England back in front with five minutes left.

It looked liked England would beat the Swedes for the first time since 1968 but in the last minute,Barcelona's Henrick Larrson made the most of some poor England set piece defending to equalise.

England now face Ecuador in Round Two in Stuttgart at 4pm UK time on Sunday.
