Sky Blue Trust AGM

The Trust AGM was held earlier today at the Hen Lane social club and with 14 members present the acting chair opened the AGM to all, and distributed the financial statement for the trust up-to January 2006. There were light-hearted jests that this was following the trend from our beloved club and their financial statements.

The main points from this was that up-to January 2006 the balance sheet was healthy with assets at this time totalling £5,758 which included the academy fund of £2,707.

The acting chair then made a statement for the year, with the academy appeal and the green travel plan the main topics of activity and trust involvement. Also the joint council, now known as the supporters consultation group (SCG) had it's first meeting on 29th October, and the trust was and continues to be represented on the safety advisory and the Arena Coventry Ltd (ACL) monitoring groups.

The trust also successfully ran coaches to the pre-season friendlies, and also supplied balloons to the supporters present at the Newcastle and Crewe away games adding to the colour and noise, certainly an aspect that Freddy Shepherd of Newcastle paid tribute to at the time when complimenting the Sky Blue support.

The academy appeal raised approximately £30,000 and those present thanked everyone who has helped in this, including those brave souls who bungeed off the crane at the Tiger Moth, and for Oggy and John Tuffy for their time and assistance.

The whole Trust board will have to stand down at the end of this year as it will have been 3 years since the formation, and almost all will be seeking re-election. However anyone who wishes to become involved and be part of the trust are encouraged to come forward. The voting will take place in January 2007.

The meeting closed with discussions on the Appeal to have the '87 cup winning team given the freedom of the city, so please add your voice to this via the trust website and members.

Finally the process is well underway to organise another fans forum and the details will be issued as soon as this is determined.

Although Ian Gibson did not attend,  Jim Brown's book launch in Waterstones in Cathedral Lanes was a success with plenty of City supporters snapping up Jim books on Highfield Road.
