Coventry City manager Andy Thorn has put young keeper Lee Burge on standby for Monday night’s trip to Ipswich Town.

Burge who played for City U18’s last Saturday against Chelsea and for the reserves in the week against Peterborough has been put on standby if Joe Murphy does not overcome a hamstring strain.

Speaking to the CT’s Andy Turner, City boss Andy Thorn said:” Joe has tweaked his hamstring so he is touch and go for Monday.

“If he doesn’t make it then Dunny will play and Burgey will be on the bench. The kid is doing teriffically well and I’ve just given him another year – that’s how well he is doing.

“He’s still growing and maturing well as a keeper. He came to Portugal with us and was exceptional over there.

“He’s learning all the time, learning off two relatively young keepers and one with a lot of experience and he’s obviously got the master –Oggy- teaching him well.”
