Former Coventry City manager Eric Black has been appointed at Sunderland.
Black, who was highly popular during his time at Highfield Road and described by Steve Bruce as "a truly outstanding tactical coach with a comprehensive knowledge of world football", has been appointed Assistant Manager to Steve Bruce.

The former Birmingham City and Wigan boss had said he would only take the job if Black, Nigel Spink and Keith Bertschin were allowed to come with him and once this was agreed, Bruce's appointment was announced.
