Brighton and Hove Albion boss Micky Adams has swooped to sign Colin Hawkins.

The Irish centre half was a product of City's Academy before being released. He played for Doncaster and in Ireland before being signed by Adams for the Sky Blues.

Badly affaected by injuries,Hawkins was loaned to Chesterfield and subsequently released by Chris Coleman.

Hawkins has agreed terms and is expected to sign a two year deal tomorrow.

Said Adams to his club's website: , "He is a no-nonsense defender; an experienced centre-half and a strong character who will be a good influence in the dressing room.

"Colin has won a lot of honours in his home country and has played in the Championship with Coventry City. He was very unlucky at Coventry with injury, just as he was establishing himself as a regular in the side. He is a very welcome addition to the Albion squad. I am very pleased we've got him."
