Cardiff City forward Jay Bothroyd has said that he was thankful for the opportunity he got at Coventry City.

Bothroyd joined City from Arsenal and picked up a Young Player Of The Year Award duyring his time at Highfield Road and is now at Cardiff City. He told Wales Online: "The experience of being released by Arsenal made me into a better person.

"I became a better player at Coventry. There was a new Jay Bothroyd and that probably would not have happened if I had stayed at Arsenal.

"Arsene Wenger did not let me go because of my ability. It was because of my attitude more than anything else.

"I have a lot to thank Coventry City and Gordon Strachan for in terms of my playing career."

Bothroyd scored against City for Cardiff at Ninian Park earlier in the season and is expected to be in the starting line up tomorrow night when the Bluebirds play at the Ricoh Arena.
