Newcastle United have been linked with a £2m bid for former Coventry City striker Jay Bothroyd and if the deal comes off, there is speculation in the North East that another former City striker in Leon Best could be on his way out of St James' Park.

Alan Pardew has admitted that he is trying to bring in a player but it will not be before the Tyne/Wear derby on Sunday.

Bothroyd is reported as having turned down an improved deal at Cardiff City
and West Ham, Blackburn and Fulham are reported to be interested alongside Newcastle.

One Newcastle website is even suggesting that Leon Best (pictured below) could come back to Coventry City.
