Peter Reid is hoping that Stephen Hughes will be able to play in Sunday's home game with Ipswich. Hughes had suffered a leg injury during the 0-0 draw with Rotherham and limped off with a suspected fracture tibia. It was diagnosed as bad bruising and Reid hopes to be able to name the popular midfielder.
BBC Radio Newcastle are reporting that Colin Healy broke his leg whilst training with Sunderland yesterday. It was the same leg that he had broke during the 1-1 draw at Highfield Road last season. Mackems boss Mick McCarthy said: "I'm as sick as I could be for Colin and we will help him through this."
