Boothroyd; We Have Gone Off Course

Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd has said that City have gone off course but he is hoping they will get back to where they want to be.

"It's like an aeroplane, like setting off from Heathrow to New York. On the way it goes across the Atlantic and gets blown all over the place by different winds," he said to Sky Blue Player.

"We've gone off course a little bit but we will get to where we want to get in the end. I'd like it to be this season, it might be next season or the season after but what is the most important thing for us is that we improve. We improve upon the last game, we improve upon the last season, we improve upon the last ten years and that's what we've got to do.

"I'd rather have a teriffic start, a bad middle and a brilliant end than I would to have a great run and a nightmare at the end. But I just feel that particularly after Saturday that we've just got to get to the top of the form table and around the top of that table and if we do, we all know what this leagues like.

"It is going to take time because you know Rome wasn't built in a day and we don't want boom and bust - I don't think any of our supporters want that, I know the board don't want that and I certainly don't want that."What I do want is to be stronger each year and stronger each cycle if you like - each cycle of six games.

"We're not out of the difficult period, we now go into two very difficult games. They're all difficult but against form teams that have spent money and been doing very very well for a period of time and if we can get points out of these two then it will set us up nicely for the rest."
