Many City supporters have felt that the Sky Blues have lacked a creative midfielder in recent months and with one midfielder Lee Carsley now needing operations, Clingan is back in the squad although he was only a unused substitute in last Saturday's 0-0 draw with Sheffield United.
"It gives you food for thought when you've got a player of Sammy's ability available," said Boothroyd to the CT, "but I thought it was a little too early for him and Aaron and Michael have done really well there, justifying their selection in a really good performance."
