Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd is planning for next season.

Speaking to the CT, he said: "You have to look at the short term which is making sure we win the next game, the medium term which is making sure we stay strong to the end of the season and the long term which is next year. "You have to juggle all that in your mind.

"I have never been one to get ready for my holidays in March or April - this is a key part of the season and we will keep going all out to win every game we play - but it's my job to make sure that the lessons from this year are learned and acted upon.

"Progress has been made, we're heading in the right direction and we aren't that far away. But there are certain things you need to do as a team and a club and only time will tell if we acheive them.

"It's really important we go into next season on a positive note because if you don't and you are not prepared you get caught out.

"I know what is needed but we won't be making any decisions about players staying or going until I have sat down with the Chairman and board and discussed next year's budget.

"I'm sure we'll be doing that in the next few weeks and then we can move it forward; we will all know where we stand and I can start beavering away and doing what needs to be done for the summer.

"It's frustrating for me because I'm by nature an impatient little so and so and I didn't come here to flounder around in mid-table.

"But, like everyone else, I need to calm down a bit and take stock; we all know Rome wasn't built in a day and I have to say I have been very encouraged by what I have seen since I have been here.

"When you first come in you have a perception about the squad and the staff but it's not until you have worked witth them and seen the good times and the not so good times that you find out about people.

"You keep making notes and then at the end of the season, you pick the bones out of it and look at where we were strong, where we weren't and where we need to improve."
