Four second half goals ensured Coventry City Ladies came away with all the points in a top of the table clash on Sunday.

United's Natalie Shaw got the only goal in a very even first half after thirty six minutes. Coventry's Mel Byrne also managed to get the ball in the back of the net early on in the game, but it was disallowed for offside. Both teams had several chances on goal, with Kerry Williamson having an outstanding game between the posts for the Sky Blues to deny the away side.

The second half was dominated by Coventry City with Byrne and Wade both scoring two goals. Wade's first came on fifty three minutes after a great pass by Kirsty Robson. A scorcher by Byrne from just outside the area just a minute later put the home team in the lead. From this point Coventry never looked like losing. Sinead Wade got Coventry's third on the hour mark in an almost identical style of goal to Mel Byrne from the edge of the box. A superb solo run and shot by Mel Byrne with ten minutes left made it four-one.

Coventry could have added a couple more goals in the second half, but poor first touches prevented any decent attempts on goal. It seems that three is an unlucky number for the Sky Blues with Byrne and Wade both getting two goals in two games running. Stuart Wilson, Coventry manager joked after the game: “They don't fancy hat-tricks. I will force it upon them eventually. They will have to score three!”

Coventry City Ladies Centre of Excellence had a mixed day of results to their opening game of the season versus Wolves.

The U10's were defeated in brave fashion 1-3, and the U12's were well beaten 8-0. However for the more senior players, they game away victorious.

Katie Singleton opened the score for the U14's in the first few minutes of a 3-1 win against Wolves.

The U16's faired even better with a 6-1 defeat of Wolves with goals coming from Jade Formaston, Jay Bradford, Abbey Gibson, Jade Ogle and Loren Graham.
