Black: Best We've Played

Last updated : 02 March 2004 By Brian Cartlidge
City had to play most of the game with just ten men after the early sending off of Peter Clarke and Black was delighted with the way the side reacted to the dismissal to go on to claim their fifth away win on the trot.

"We defended brilliantly and coped with the loss of a man very well. Our mentality was spot-on and I told my players at half time that this was a game we could go on and win.

"I don't think the tackle by Clarke at such an early stage in the game deserved a red card. It wasn't a great challenge but neither player touched the ball.

"We showed a fantastic attitude and that was the best we have played since I came to the club.

"It was a great team performance and Scott Shearer made a terrific save to stop Cardiff's first-half penalty.

"Let's hope the players take confidence from this performance and that is now five away wins in a row."
