Birmingham Interest In Duo

Micky Adams has said that Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce who was today voted Manager Of The Month has been on the phone about two players.
"I've had a conversation with Steve Bruce and he has made enquiries about two of our players," Adams said.

"I'm not prepared to name who they are as I believe that should remain confidential and we will see if and how the situation progresses."
Rumours abound that the two are Stern John and either Stephen Hughes or Michael Doyle.

Adams has revealed why he let Matt Heath and Mikkel Bischoff leave. "Matt has been frustrated this season," said the City boss to the club website. "He started in the side but lost his place and then up until the West Brom match we had one of the best defences in the league so he was not getting a chance.

"He went on loan to Leeds and did very well up there and Dennis Wise did not hesitate to sign him. They have taken over his contract which was set to expire in the summer so he has gone there to play first team football."

On Bischoff, he added: "Mikkel joined us and looked very confident during pre-season but it's fair to say that the injury he suffered knocked his confidence a bit. "He came into the side and started two matches but he was quick to say that he wasn't playing with the confidence he felt he should be and that he wanted a change.

"I have to say that both he and his agent were fantastic to deal with and I wish both Mikkel and Matt all the best."

Replacements are unlikely with Adams adding: "Should anything happen to Pagey or Elliott I think we have plenty of cover. Marcus Hall can play there and Adam Virgo started his career there and I wouldn't hesitate to put either of them in if needed."
