Former Coventry City winger Chris Birchall ended his international career when he played for Trinidad & Tobago against Jamaica in a 2-0 win on Tuesday night.

Birchall, now with Port Vale, picked up his 44th cap for his country, nicknamed the Soca Warriors, in the International friendly at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, when he started the game along with Carlos Edwards who is also expected to quit the international game.

“I could not be happier to be coming back to say goodbye and have this farewell game in front of the T&T fans," Birchall said before the game. "They have been absolutely tremendous with me throughout my international career and have supported me from day one through the great times and the dark times and I'm excited to play one last game for them and especially the derby in which I've always wanted to play in against Jamaica.”

Trinidad, who had the better of the first half winning seven corners and having four shots on target, took the lead in the 48th minute through Ataullah Guerra.and in the 73rd minute, they added a second from a Kenwyne Jones penalty to wrap up a fine win, against a Jamaica side whose only shot on target came in the 89th minute, and a fitting way for Birchall to end his career.
