Lee Carsley has said that he can't wait to get started on his new Coventry City coachng role.

Speaking to the CT's Andy Turner, Carsley said: “I really wish the season was starting next week because I honestly can’t wait.

“I’m excited about my new role and I’m excited about the fact that we’ll be expected to win every game next year.

“We’ll be one of the favourites to go back up and it will be fantastic for the club if we can get off to a good start and build that momentum that you get when you are winning football matches and hopefully the club will enjoy positive times.

“A lot of the current squad are of a good age so hopefully if we keep the majority together and add bits and bobs here and there then we’ll have a really good chance of competing in the league.

“We’ve already got some really good players who are proven at that level that have scored a lot of goals and there is no reason why that can’t continue.

“Other clubs have shown how they can go down and come back stronger and it’s a case of licking our wounds at the minute and assessing where we are and then move forward with it.”
