Sky Blues striker Leon Best has told fans he is as keen as ever to do well for Coventry City and is eager to prove it with a win at home to Blackpool on Saturday.

The striker, who is out of contract in the summer and has consistently been linked with a move away from The Ricoh during the winter transfer window, now looks set to see the remain at Coventry for the rest of the season. He has been accused of not giving his best during the protracted rumours surrounding his immediate future and is out to prove the doubters wrong.

Best told the club website, "We're coming off the back of a good point against Swansea because we worked very hard and deserved to get something out of the game, so that has given us a boost. We know Blackpool area good footballing team, but we are at home and we have been doing well at The Ricoh lately, much as Blackpool were at home when Blackpool beat us, so hopefully the fans can get behind us and give us an edge."

Best mentioned his delight that the other strikers, Morisson and Eastwood are both regularly scoring, saying, "It's been great for competition because we have all been scoring and sometimes it is nice to have that rotation in a side as well of having an edge to get one of those starting spots. I have been really happy with my own form as well because I am now doing what I knew I could, but haven't proven  up until this season."

"I have been staying injury free, touch wood, I've been playing games now and I am proving what I am capable of and I just need to continue doing it, so hopefully I can do that at the weekend."
