Coventry City will have to pay £650,000 for Leon Best after the fee for his move from Southampton was decided by The Professional Game Compensation Committee.
As Best is only just 21, Southampton were entitled to compensation but neither club could agree a fee so the matter went to the Compensation Committee.
Best's first club Notts County will receive a portion of the fee and Southampton will also receive 20 per cent of any surplus transfer fee if Best is sold and a further sum if Coventry win promotion before June 2010 when his contract at City expires.
