Coventry City have turned down the £1m bid made yesterday by Nottingham Forest for Leon Best.

New City Chairman Ray Ranson told the CT: "The offer was rejected out of hand.

"Coventry City want to retain all the players we see as having a major part to play in the future development of the club and Leon is definitely one of those players."

Meanwhile, City are hoping to have Colin Hawkins back playing within four weeks. The Irishman in his second spell with the club has been out with a tear in his Achillies and has not played since he was forced off after ten minutes of a reserve game at Bradford back in August.
