Coventry City Former Players Association committee member and Wembley scorer and winner in 1987, Dave Bennett is CCFPA’s ‘special guest’ at the Ricoh next tonight when the Sky Blues take on West Bromwich Albion’s U23s in their final group stage match in the Checkatrade Trophy.
Dave is protecting a fine record as a ‘special’ in watching four previous Sky Blue Cup victories (three in the Checkatrade Trophy) spoilt only our last minute 3-2 home defeat in the group stages earlier in the season to Shrewsbury. There is still a chance we can qualify for the knockout stages and continue to defend our trophy holder status from that wonderful day last year – but this depends upon a win and results elsewhere also going our way!
He will be ‘around the lounges’ before the game and on the stage of Lady Gs in the G-Casino after the game doing his usual double-act with fellow committee member Billy Bell! If you really can’t make it to the stadium ‘Benno’ will also be assisting the BBC CWR live match-day commentary analysing the game as it unfolds.
