Being Released By Ipswich Was My Start - Keogh

Coventry City defender Ricoh Keogh has said that being released by Ipswich Town as a sixteen year old has made him the player he is.

Speaking to Sky Blue Player, Keogh said: "It's a big game for all sorts of reasons.

"I'm really looking forward to it. Ipswich is a great club. I was in their catchment area when I was a kid and started there when I was nine and stayed until I was 16.

“I can't thank them enough for what they taught me but unfortunately it didn't work out for me there and they let me go when I was 16.

"That was a massive blow for me but you get knock-backs in your career and it's how you deal with it. I'd say to any kid - or even adult - that you can't give up when something like that happens.

"If you really want it, you just have to keep going and believe in yourself. What seemed like the end of the world to me when I was 16 turned out to be the making of me - it made me stronger."
