Former Coventry City winger Ashley Cain could be joining Bedworth United in a bid to get fit.

Nuneaton hailing Cain who came through City's Academy to play for the first team, last summer moved to Romania to play football for CS Gaz Metan Medias in Romania Liga 1 (Premiership).

He played three games scoring in every game to earn himself a contract. He had flown to Budapest to play the day before signing and in the first ten seconds of the match snapped his Achilles' tendon.

An emergency operation in London meant he could not walk for four monts and now after seven months, he is still not fit enough to play Romanian League football.

Bedworth boss Steve Farmer told Nuneaton News' Matt Davies:  “We are hoping Ashley will sign.

“He’s trained with us for the last 10 days.

“He’s got a great pedigree having been with Coventry and a few Conference clubs.

“He was really unlucky to see his move to Romania fall through, but we are looking to help him get back to the level he was at.

“It will be great to have him on board for however long it may be.

“He’s a great lad and it will be good for the players to work with him.”
