Preston North End will be without their 19 year old midfielder Adam Barton when they visit The Ricoh Arena to take on Coventry City next Saturday.

The young midfielder bumped  heads with Scunthorpe captain Cliff Byrne during the first half of last Saturday's game. Barton felt fit enough to continue for the remainder of the half, but during the half time interval, it was discovered he was suffering from concussion and was sent to hospital for a check up .

Preston's manager Darren Ferguson said, "Adam lost all memory of the afternoon, he couldn't remember the first half or coming into the dressing room at half time. We had a long chat with the doctor about him, who then noticed a little bit of bleeding at the back of Adam's ear. That can indicate something quite serious."

Although there were fears that Barton might have fractured his skull, an X-ray proved there was no fracture. It' is now highly likely that Barton will miss this weekend's visit to Coventry.
