In the 26th minute of the game at The Valley, Barrett picked up the ball twenty-five yards out and unleashed an unstoppable shot past the Jamaican keeper.

Ireland boss Brian Kerr was delighted with the midfielders showing throughout the whole game: "His whole game was excellent,' he said after the game.

"He worked very hard to gain possession for us and also came up with the goal.

"He showed some of the potential he has had in the past, but he's been held up by injuries and found his club opportunities limited. He looks like he could do it in international football, though."
