Derby County's Shaun Barker is confident his side can react to their defeat by Cardiff last week by beating Coventry City at The Ricoh on Saturday.

Baker pointed out the Derby have a good recent record over the Sky Blues and will be intent on continuing that run to return to Derby with three points after the televised game.

Derby opened their season with a 1-2 win at Leeds, but then lost their second game 2-1 at home to Cardiff. Coventry started their season with a 2-0 win at home to Portsmouth and followed that with a 2-2 away draw to Watford.

Barker scored the winner for Derby in the corresponding fixture last April in The Rams 0-1 win over City and is keen to repeat the performance this Saturday.

He said, "We will go to Coventry full of confidence even though we lost the last two games against Crewe in the Carling Cup and Cardiff in the League, I don't think the defeat at the weekend has knocked our confidence.

"We saw some good things in the game, and we know there were some bad things as well. We have been getting on the ball and we just need to create a bit more when we have good possession in good areas. We'll look to get at Coventry and put them on the back foot."

Derby have a good record at The Ricoh Arena, being unbeaten in their last three visits, having won two, in 2006 and April 2010 and drawing in 2008.

"We performed pretty well against Coventry last season and beat them home and away. When I was at Blackpool, we also did well against them. We're looking to get more points on the board as soon as possible," said Baker

" I think it was a positive that we got our first away win at Leeds on the opening day. That is a good sign because it took us until December last season to get a first away win. That was too long a wait, and put too much pressure on our home games."
