Former Coventry City striker John Aloisi was a 62nd minute sub in Australia's 2-2 draw with Croatia which was enough to put Gud Huddink's side into the World Cup Second Round.
In a cracking game, a stunning free kick from Srna put Croatia ahead before Craig Moore equalised in the 38th minute. Croatia regained their lead through Niko Kovac in the 56th minute. John Aloisi was sent on and in the 79th minute, the striker now with Alaves knocked down for Harry Kewall to score.

Referee Graham Poll started to flash the cards. First Croatia's Simic went for a second bookable and then Brett Emerton followed. The game was thrown into controversy when Graham Poll cautioned Simunic for the second time but did not sent him off.

In the last seconds.Simunic was booked for the third time in the match and sent off as Australia held on to progress to the top second round finishing second to Brazil who beat Japan 4-1.
