The BBC are reporting that a 21 year old man from Cheltenham has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland during Friday's game against Leeds United

The offender ran onto the pitch, just after Leeds had equalised, from where the Leeds fans were watching the game and attacked the former Coventry City goalkeeper and knocked to the ground. Kirkland received treatment and played the remaining 15 minutes of the game.

It has emerged that the man in question was known to the South Yorkshire Police and had been banned from from all football grounds when he was aged 16.

Gloucestershire police arrested the 21 year old man earlier today.
