Arena To Stage U21 Game

The Ricoh Arena will stage its first international football match when England U21's takes on Germany on Friday October 6th.

The game which kicks off at 8pm is the first leg of a U21 European Championship play-off with the second fours days later in Leverkusen. The winner will go through to the finals in Holland next summer.

Peter Taylor's side qualified for this game with a 3-2 win in Switzerland earlier this month. Ticket news on this game will appear here when available.

The last England U21 international staged in Coventry was back on October 18th 1988 when England drew 1-1 with Sweden at Highfield Road. David Smith & Steve Sedgeley played for England in front of a crowd of 3,988. David Burrows was a sub for England.
Eight years earlier on Feb 12 1980, England U21 beat Scotland 2-1 in front of a crowd of 15,382 . Two City players at the time were in the Scotland team - Andy Blair and Gary Gillespie. In the England side that night were Kenny Sansom and Terry Butcher.
