Arena Delay Could Jeopardise Olympic Bid

Builders Laing O'Rourke could see their failure to have the Arena ready for the opening day of the season affecting London's 2012 Olympic bid.

The builders are major partners in the London bid and there are concerns that IOC members, who will announce the winning city on July 6th, will have doubts about the ability of the company to have sporting facilities ready for use in the summer sporting festival if the Arena is late.

Paris and New York are other bidding cities who have flown to Singapore for the decison at 12.30pm next Wednesday.

The failure of Laing O'Rourke, who describe themselves as an international construction group with total capability in the design, procurement and delivery of major projects, to have the Arena ready on time means that City supporters possibly face five away matches in the month of August.
