Sir Derek died nearly a year ago from a heart attack and an appeal has been set up to encourage fifty local businesses to buy a defribillator and train staff in its use.
The Derek Higgs Start A Heart Appeal is asking local firms to buy a defribrillator at a reduced price of £1,000 and have staff trained for free as well as seeking donations so that defribrillators can be placed in public places around the City.
