Another Month Out For Reda Johnson

Coventry City manager Tony Mowbray has said that Reda Johnson could be out for another month.

The Benin international defender has a thigh tear and could be out for another four weeks at least.

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph's Alan Poole, Tony Mowbray said about Johnson:  “I spoke to the doctor this week and he was still thinking potentially another four weeks.

“Because we’ve got a young back four we could do with Reda’s experience and physicality - the statistics prove that - but by the time he does some fitness work on the back of his injury the season’s practically done so in my mind I have to move forward without Reda at the moment.

“As I thought, today’s match showed that we’ve got a young back four who are perhaps a touch naive at times and we don’t have too many alternatives.

“We’ve got Andy Webster who I know from his time in Scotland. Sometimes an experienced voice at the back can help a team, of cours,e and yet you could say the mobility of that means we might have to play a little bit deeper.

“My fear of playing like that in this league is the physical presence of teams who, if you play too deep, can put a lot of balls into the box. We’ll hopefully come up with the answers.”
