Administration Rule Changed

Following outrage after Leeds United going in to Administration after it was clear that they would be relegated from the Championship, the Football League at their AGM in Portugal at which Coventry City were represented have decided to close the loophole.

A cut-off date of the fourth Tuesday in March has been agreed upon and any club going into administration will have the ten point reduction withheld until it is clear if this sanction will have an affect on league placings.

If the club is relegated, the ten point deduction will start next season but if they are not relegated then the points will be deducted during the current season which may or may not subsequently relegate the club.
