Scunthorpe United boss Nigel Adkins has praised Sammy Clingan's goal which helped the Sky Blues to a 2-1 victory this afternoon.

Speaking to Scunthorpe's official website after the match, Adkins said: "It was a good goal from, Clingan, good free-kick. It's gone over the wall which is a difficult skill so give him a little bit of credit on that."

The Scunthorpe boss was less than happy with the referee Mr Paul Taylor and said about a 47th minute incident in which Leon Barnett got away with a foul inside the penalty area due to the assistant referee not being up with play and the referee not in a good position:"Should of been a penalty, should have been a sending off, I thought the referee had a poor game.

"The ref for me was very poor today. "It's fair to say that the decisions that have gone against Scunthorpe United have not been good. "Especially when you view the evidence after, and the assessors have backed that as well.

"It's frustrating but I'm sure every manager says that about his team. "It's frustrating because we try to work with the officials here at Scunthorpe United and you do have to work with them because they have got a thankless job. "At times you think, come on, you should have got that right."
